What is Latex?

Latex is a milky white liquid composed of rubber particles dispersed in water. This material is whipped with air to form a foam, which is heated to produce foam rubber, or latex. The soft, supple products of a real foam rubber are what make our products superior. Latex is inherently hypoallergenic, anti-microbial and dust-mite resistant. Because it breathes to remove body moisture, it keeps you warmer in the winter, and cooler in the summer. Latex is not a plastic foam, like polyurethane or furniture foam. It is a denser product made of rubber to last a lifetime. Unlike urethane, latex will feel as good a year from now as it does in the showroom today.

What is Talalay Latex?

Talalay latex is made with an “open-cell structure” (tiny pinholes all the way through the latex) which provides greater breathability, superior resilience and durability. It springs back quicker than standard-process latex, which has less bounce and is, therefore, less resilient. The Talalay method produces the finest latex available.

The Talalay process:

  1. Liquid rubber is whipped into a foam and poured into a mold.
  2. The mold is sealed, and rods penetrate the foamed rubber.
  3. A vacuum is placed on the mold, which removes air bubbles/pockets and distributes the liquid rubber evenly through the mold.
  4. CO2 is run through the rods, freezing the foamed rubber and locking in the consistency.
  5. Heat is sent through the rods, providing even temperature and yielding a consistent latex cores without air pockets or uneven firmnesses.
  6. Impact test results indicate an amazingly low loss of 2-8%.
  7. Our Talalay products contain no fillers or extenders. Only the components needed to convert the material from a liquid to a solid that lasts are added: soap, ammonia, zinc oxide and sulfur. The ammonia evaporates and the soap and zinc oxide are washed out. The sulfur is needed to cure the product so that it bounces back after you sleep on it.

Natura Smart Wool

Acting as a natural thermostat for the body, Natura Smart Wool works to control temperature and humidity throughout the night. Temperature imbalance can cause excess moisture buildup, rapid heart rate, increased tossing and turning, and waking up feeling clammy and sluggish. Natura Smart Wool actively manages body temperature by transporting excess body heat and humidity away from the body before it has a chance to build up and disrupt sleep.

Dual Slat Systems

The key to unparalleled support and comfort of the Dual Slat System is found in the flexible, rolling action of the slat mattress. The slat mattress mirrors the contours and movements of the spine as well as echoing the gentle curves of the adjustable supports below. Eliminating disruptive sleep caused by partner movement, the slat mattresses (and accompanying support mattress) are independent of each other, isolating movement and customizing comfort.
